Those who know me will say it was just a matter of time before I ran for elective office. Whether volunteering in campaigns in Chicago or serving in the United States Marine Corps, public service has always been a high priority for me.

I first ran for the City Council in 2004. I ran un-opposed in 2006. I represent Ward 5 and am one of 10 councilpersons for the City. I am currently serving as President of the Council. My committee assignments for 2007- 2008 are as follows::

  • 2012
  • Black Hills Council of Local Governments
  • Economic Development
  • Metropolitan Planning Organization
  • Liaison to Canyon Lake Senior Citizens
  • Legal and Finance
  • Business Improvement District
  • Capital Improvements Program (CIP)
  • Emergency Management
  • Executive Policy/Rapid City MPO
  • GIS/LIS
  • Infrastructure Development Partnership
  • Pedestrian Avoiding Traffic Hazards (PATH)
  • Safe Street Task Force
  • Subsidy Committee
  • Wage & Benefits

A top priority for me is Safe Streets. I have chaired a Mayor appointed Task Force for the City in finding ways to make our community more pedestrian-friendly and safe for all those who walk our streets. Our committee has developed a public education campaign, which is sure to catch the attention of young and old alike. Our goal is to make our community an inviting place to walk, jog, or ride for pleasure or business, knowing that pedestrian safety is our number one priority.
